Thanksgiving Update!
The holidays are nearly here again, and plans are well underway for the 2011 Thanksgiving Celebration. This year the Community Center will be giving out cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes and other Thanksgiving food through the Mustard Seed Food Pantry so that low-income families can enjoy a traditional turkey dinner at home with their family and friends. Being in the Food Pantry means that each family has an income less than 130% of the federal poverty limit. In real dollar amounts, 98% of these families earn less than $25,000 annually, and 67% are struggling to get by on $10,000 per year or less.
Below is a list of items that the Food Pantry would like to include for local families who participate in the Mustard Seed Food Pantry here at the Community Center.

Right now we're looking for individuals, groups and organizations that can hold food drives to collect items from the list. Please phone us at the Community Center at 504.281.2512 if you are able to help with this project, and thank you so much! If possible we would like to begin bringing food drive items to the Community Center by November 16 so that we can begin distributing food on Nov 18 - 22.
Anyone who has contacts with food retailers and wholesalers is also encouraged to phone the Community Center's Executive Director Iray Nabatoff at 504.281.2512.
