Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Now Available!

Families Helping Families of Southeast Louisiana are now at the Community Center of St Bernard, 1107 LeBeau St, Arabi, every Thursday from 10AM – noon. The mission of Families Helping Families of Southeast Louisiana is to enable and empower families of individuals with disabilities through an effective coordinated network of resources, support, and services. FHF of SELA is dedicated to helping families stay together, living independently and striving to reach their full potential. Moreover, FHF of SELA seeks to ensure that all individuals with disabilities have the opportunity to attend school, live, work and recreate in their community with typical peers.

At the Community Center, FHF of SELA staff will provide individuals with disabilities and their families with information and referral, education and training, and peer-to-peer support. Resources available through FHF of SELA include services from the Metropolitan Human Services District, the State Department of Education, Louisiana Parent Training and Information Center, formerly known as Project PROMPT, the Louisiana State Improvement Grant and other local initiatives designed to assist individuals with disabilities.

Solutions Group NA Meetings on Saturdays at 7:30 PM

Solutions Group of Narcotics Anonymous will be moving its meeting from Gethsemane Lutheran Church on Paris Rd, Chalmette, to the Community Center of St Bernard, 1107 LeBeau St, Arabi, starting on Saturday, October 3, 2009.

Solutions Group of Narcotics Anonymous is a non profit group that is not affiliated with any other organization, has no dues or fees and is recognized as one of the best methods of recovery from addiction. 12 step programs are almost always advised as part of treatment in formal substance abuse counseling. Many people need go no further than using the 12 steps of Narcotics Anonymous in order to stop abusing substances.

The Solutions Group was established in 1995 as a splinter group of the “It Works” N.A.group in Chalmette in order to provide a more relaxed atmosphere for people new to the 12 step program. Saturday meetings start at 7:30 PM and last approximately ninety minutes. The meeting is open to anyone who has a desire to stop using drugs or has a family member who is addicted.
