We Need Your Help!

For a brochure about volunteer opportunities at the Community Center of St Bernard, please click HERE. We have several volunteer openings at this time, and we would be grateful for your help. Please note that these are only job openings; we regret that we are unable to provide housing or transportation. For those using public transport, we are located 3 blocks east of the Aycock Street terminus of the #88 St Claude bus. For assistance with housing for non-local volunteers, we would suggest trying the New Orleans craigslist.

For general information about volunteering in New Orleans, please contact ReliefSpark. Reliefspark has a variety of programs for volunteers to choose from such as: house gutting, rebuilding, assisting animal rescue organizations, inventorying green building materials, serving meals to returning residents, helping out a donations center, lawn care and maintenance, after-school tutoring, private tutoring and other local community events.

General Help:

We have an urgent need for volunteers to help with the Mustard Seed Distribution every Thursday. Individuals and groups are welcome; ideally we would like to have as many as 5 part-time assistants. The distribution takes place from 11-4, but if volunteers could arrive an hour early to help with setup, that would be ideal. We also need volunteers who we could call on an as-needed basis when shipments of donated goods arrive, or for other one-time events.

If interested, please phone CCSTB Mustard Seed Director Jason Horwitz at (504) 281-2512.

Kitchen Coordinator:

At this time we have a need for a Kitchen Coordinator to oversee our weekly Tuesday Community Supper. This is a volunteer position that has the possibility of expanding to a paid position as we extend our services to include evening meal services Mon-Fri. Tuesday meal prep begins at about 3 PM in the afternoon and includes meal planning as well as overseeing and working with other volunteers who help with preparation & service.

If interested, please phone CCSTB Director Iray Nabatoff at (504) 281-2512.

Bookkeeper or Accountant

We need a volunteer with bookkeeping or accounting experience to help set up and maintain our financial records. This position will require about 2 hrs per week maintenance once the system is set up, and would be ideal for an accounting student or retiree.

If interested, please phone CCSTB Director Iray Nabatoff at (504) 281-2512.
