Free Internet and Phone Service
Media lab hours are 10 AM. – 5 PM, Mon - Fri . Free local and long-distance phone calls are available as well as 10 internet-connected computers with free printing. We also offer free fax send and receive service.
We have Wireless!
Thanks to a generous donation from Cisco Systems and the hard work of NTEN volunteers, the Community Center of St Bernard is now a WiFi hotspot! Wireless service is available Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5PM. To prevent bandwidth abuse, accessing the system does require a password, available from the office.
Website Design and Maintenance Services Available
Custom website design and maintenance services are now available from the Community Center of St Bernard! If you or your organization needs a website or blog set up, or just wants to bring the information on your current site up-to-date, the Community Center can help! Fees vary depending on the type of service being provided, with a 15% discount for organizations with a verifiable IRS 501c3 status. For more information about website design services, please phone the Community Center during normal business hours.
Free Computer Classes
The Community Center is currently offering free 5-week computer classes. Participants can choose between Tuesday evening or Thursday morning sessions. The next round of classes will begin on May 20, 2008. To enroll, please phone the Community Center at 504-281-2512.
CURRENT COMPUTER CLASS SCHEDULE
CLASS 1: Introduction to Windows – Understanding basic Windows elements and settings (toolbars, start menu, display settings, power options, user preferences).
CLASS 2: Using Windows – Using Windows Explorer and common file and folder commands (find, save, move, copy, paste, delete, rename, properties).
CLASS 3: Word Processing I – Introduction to word processing with Microsoft Word. Basic formatting features and editing existing documents. Also printer setup.
CLASS 4: Word Processing II – Continuation of Microsoft Word. Creating new documents, using cut, copy, paste and undo commands.
CLASS 5: Introduction to the Internet – Searching and using web addresses, viewing social networking sites, basic information about Internet Explorer settings.
EVENING CLASSES: Tuesdays 5-6PM on May 20, 27 & Jun 3, 10, 17
MORNING CLASSES: Thursdays 10-11AM on May 22, 29 & Jun 5, 12, 17
